Although I don't generally write simple web-sites (they are of little interest to me), there are some sites, or parts of sites that I am happy to be involved with, as well as hosting of smaller sites. The type of work I will become involved in is small-to-mid-sized PHP systems, with custom output systems (like newbookreviews or the Bigsites NewsSystem), or other more simple database backed sites that require input/modify/delete forms from a back-end SQL database. Buying personal domains (such as abulman.co.uk) for small, personal websites, or just email forwarding is also possible. .co.uk domains are available at less than £10, and .com's for around £15. Email forwarding of an unlimited number of addresses to one or more final destinations (usually on a catch-all basis) is from £10/year. Both the domain and mail forwarding are charged in two-year increments.
For such projects, I usually require a part-payment on the agreement of work, and then staged payments through various goals if the project is of some size. The balance to be paid in full following testing and deployment. There are a few methods that I can accept.
